Iris Germanic: purple root
The “progenitor” of many bearded irises popular today is the German iris.
It was bred for its rhizomes, from which it received a very expensive essential oil and crushed medicinal powder with the scent of violets (which is why the iris rhizome is also called violet root).

The nuances of planting the German iris
You can plant irises in both spring and fall, and even in summer after flowering. The main thing is not to forget to replant the plants every 3-4 years. For planting should be directed to open sunny places with well-drained soil.
The distance between the plants is 30 cm, between the rows – 60-70 cm, the depth of planting rhizomes is 8-10 cm (with a deep planting, the iris will either disappear or not bloom).
Iris Germanic was once very popular, but today it is grown as food, spices, medicinal products, perfumes, honey and ornamental plants.

It is better to grind them later in a coffee grinder and store the dry powder in a hermetically sealed glass jar (ideally no longer than 2 years).

Washing the decoction of the purple root smoothes the skin, whitens and cleans it, makes it soft and silky, and rinsing the hair strengthens it and helps get rid of dandruff. Beauty in the flowerbed.
It is believed that the German iris is slightly inferior in beauty to its “descendants” – “bearded” varieties, but it will cope with the role of a spring accent, effective in group or curb planting at home, in mixborders, along the tracks.
Don’t feed organic irises – they don’t like her.
